1oz GOLD SELLING FOR $250 ?
On Ebay Ive noticed certain coins such as the ever so beautiful StGaudens $20 gold piece to bidding at this very moment for close to $250. If won , did you not just get a coin that has .96 % ounce of Gold ? Putting aside all collector value on this coin you simply just bought nearly 1 oz for half price. I also noticed that you can find Canadian Silver maple leafs in coin shops for near spot price of silver Approx $9. My approach at this time in this ever so important accumulation period is to aquire both metals whatever way possible at the cheapest price possible. COINRESOURCE.com provides a coin encylopedia that gives a description of each coin and its percentage of metal composition. Check it out it can proove very cost saving.

QWAK,I just made this post a little wile ago to another thred but it would seem apropriate to post it agen to this thred.
------------------------------------------------------------------- QWAK,For the PURE GOLDBUG both GOLD and SILVER represent HONIST MONEY and as SUCH you should be prepared to PAY an HONIT PRICE and should only buy from HONIST well known DEALERS. IF you go looking for DEALS and CHEEP prices it is very posable you will get SCAMED and there are countless ways the scamers can burn you. When I first started buying BULLION GOLD was about 1/2 what it is today, just a fiew years ago and I found a dealer who would actuly spend some time talking about all the SCAMS back in 1980. Fake coins cliped coins and even DRILLING small holes around the edge of coins to remove a bit a mettle from each coin! He told me in the old days when we had both SILVER and GOLD coins BANKERS would bring home bags and place them in old fassioned washing macheans for hours waring them down a bit and collect the GOLD and SILVER dust from the drain! He told me that when the prices started geting HIGH there would be all sorts of SCAMS poping up just like in the late 70s amd early 80s and I believe HE was right! Bullion bars are the easiest to FAKE and hardist to check as to be 100% shure they have to be ASSAED which is expencive and time consuming not to mention once it is done the seller is likely LONG GONE and so is your MONEY! Try not to OUT SMART your self trying to get a CHEEP DEAL,THAT is one of the things the SCAMERS look for and they will SKIN you OUT and you won't even know you been HAD untill it is too late to do any thing about IT but LEARN an EXPENCIVE leson! the DUCK <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> |

:thumpdown Ebay=Caveat Emptor or buyer beware. I checked out the gold and silver there a week ago. In the gold section, inparticular, there were a lot of "reproductions", gold plated, etc. There may be some good deals there but I didn't find any. For me the risks outweigh the gains. I will stay with legit dealers.

Re: 1oz GOLD SELLING FOR $250 ?
Hey Gold Duck,
I was just making an observation that I noticed. I didn't say it was a sure thing that you would obtain a $20 DBL EGL St Guadens fro $250, just that there were ones bidding below the $ 500 level. If your lucky enough to win the bid for less than $500 then its a great deal. The $20 eagle has .98 oz of gold in that coin. Also the $10 Indian has .48 oz of gold. Another great buy if you can obtain one for less than $250. Forget the rare or numismatic value, the intrisic value is my point here. Ebay has very reputable dealers selling coins and also private sellers . You can always check feedback and the sellers score for reputation. Coin dealer shops are not interested in buying your numismatic coins at the premium price you paid because they are simply not in that type of business. They do not have coin collectors coming thru there doors on a consistent basis. Numismatic coins are sold for $1000's of dollars in auctions all across the country paying premium prices for your coins. Today is not the time to sell your coins though. Gold has an $1000 upside potential as I see it. So we are only in the second inning of this Greatest Gold Show Ever. Does anyone know what was the catylyst in the late 80's that propelled numismatics to there all time high's ? Hint: Paper with INK |

FIRST the grading is a gray aeria ware you are at a disadvantage from the start when you buy and agen when you sell. Second they may not be REAL as the POG goes up lots of counterfits come out of the wood work and some are not even GOLD! Third YOU may be willing to TRUST a seller on E BAY but at best it is a roll of the dice and at a price of $500.00+ an ounce that is NOT a game I would feel comfortable playing! Agen it is your money and your free will BUT buying SILVER ROUNDS from the MINT is a MUCH BETTER and SAFER DEAL and SILVER will out preform GOLD by at least 3 to 1 for BULLION! Good LUCK the DUCK |
Re: 1oz GOLD SELLING FOR $250 ?
hey Gold Duck,
there you go again quackin and makin no sense. if you are into gold and silver bars so be it. i can always drill a hole in them and put lead in them. there is nothing wrong with investing in numismatics. they tell of a history of this country which there are the likes of of over 100 million coin collectors in this country alone. a coin graded by NGC or PCGS the two most respected coin graders in the world are the most sought after coins at auctions. a coin from a dealer on the street writes in pencil on it that is a grade ms62 is his's opinion. i think most people if they had the choice would choose PCGS or NGC. numismatics are up over 6000% since 1970. St Gaudens coins graded by these two repected companies garner high prices. Check the auction prices on EBAY, everyday these coins are selling well over $500 a piece. Someone is buying them. The proofs in the pudding my friend. Back up what you say with facts and not ficitonal ideas in your head with no expiereince whatsoever in numismatics you would be saying the things you do. |
Re: 1oz GOLD SELLING FOR $250 ?
I'll buy any lead filled gold or silver bars that you have. Lead is currently worth about twice as much an ounce as gold is.
    Lead is not as worthless as it used to be. |
Re: 1oz GOLD SELLING FOR $250 ?
Yeah Jeff, lead is around $0.05 an ounce and gold is around $530.00 an ounce. How many ounces of lead do you want for $530 an ounce?

The bottom line is the dealers push colector coins because the can mark them up and make a higher profit and when it comes time to SELL you are much more likely to get a LOT LESS than YOU think they are worth! With BULLION COINS there are much less problems, if it is an oz. of GOLD and the spot price of GOLD is xxx you can be reasonably shure that is about the price you will get. It is YOUR money to do with a you chose BUT for the vast majority of people BULLION COINS will be much easier to traid for fair value and in more places with less questions or hastles. the DUCK |
